##Update## There has been a donation of an old PC to the coffers. Fortunately it's a little more powerful than the old one. It's got enough CPU power to run the software audio processor in stereo. So now stereo has come to the 64kaac+ stream. Enjoy! |

CRC is a test format. It exists to try and bridge the gap between "Classic Rock" and "Modern Country Styles". You will hear a few Country Gold Classics too. In Australia audiences have been divided between capital city and regional listening habits for a very long time. Things like lifestyle and social attitudes have carved a massive divide between city and regional listening habits for many years. With digital radio in it's infancy there is evidence the majors are exploring different programming formats. In the past financial constraints on commercial broadcasters usually meant licensees favoured mainstream formatting. Then came the threat of local community's loosing their local station to networking from a distant hub. A story becoming way too common even the world over! CRC is a side project to Station X. But that doesn't mean it's treated with any less enthusiasm. Being on the internet CRC has a few unique obstacles to over come. This also gives CRC a little freedom that isn't afforded to a major operation. CRC is here to help fill the gap and take advantage of the cheaper setup costs involved with internet broadcasting. The idea is to keep the "classics" rolling and "introduce" you to the sounds of "modern country". There will be some Country Gold Classics too. The format isn't meant for all ages and makes no apologies for this. You will not hear artists like Britney Spears, Usher and a stack of modern styles such as Urban, Dance and Pop they are strictly banned! But that's another project, I just might do that (anyone own a pc shop?) Australia has a wealth of home grown country talent. With the issues facing commercial broadcasters support for the country genre on it's own is low. This forces many artists overseas. A good example of this is our very own Keith Urban. Here in Australia he's known largely as "the guy married to Nichol Kidman". Not so much the multi million dollar album seller. To be totally honest, I'm not the sort of person that would leave a country music station on 24/7 in a fit. Sorry it's a fact! But I am one that will give it a listen now and then. Hence the whole idea to "introduce" the modern sounds of country. For me personally I like a lot of the crossover remakes. They are well done a lot of them. If you agree with me and would like to let me know I can be emailed by clicking here. Artists with songs they'd like played on the station can email me too on the same link. So I'm up for it! A spare PC, internet connection, a bunch of mp3's (hand picked from Station X's classics) and let em rip. Let's see where this takes us! Cheers Peter Tate (Station X) |
